Roeki and Jerome Symons are two different artists, but for the symposium with the theme “Synergy” they decided to make the design for the sculpture together.
The sculpture has the shape of a Snowdrop, the first flower that blooms at the beginning of springtime. It is a symbol of hope and new life.
Three leaves of the sculpture represent the themes of the series of Sculpture Symposiums in Bila Tserkva, namely three aspects of social energy: interaction, synergy and harmony. The leaves have a transparent floral pattern and form an arbor from which you can see the outside world in a different perspective. There is a stone disc on the floor, engraved with the word “PROMISE” in Ukrainian. Standing on this stone you may make a promise to yourself, to other people, to the world. This symbolic place for making a solemn promise is located in front of the entrance to the Arboretum where newly wedded couples in Bila Tserkva usually go to have their wedding pictures made. Jerome & Roeki hope that ”Promise” will become part of that happy ritual.
