While preparing for making the sculpture for Bila Tserkva, Plácido Rodríguez Bonnín made his research over the situation in Ukraine. Reconsidering distress and traumatic events, that the country was subjected to, the artist believes that even in the toughest times a person is able to withstand and revive.
The sculpture of Placido represents a large acetylene bottle which symbolizes industrial potential of the country. Drawn from different directions by hard metal ropes, it remains invulnerable, but deformed and subsequently turned into a Human. Hands of the human are calm and strong, they help to pass through the test of change. The mask on the face determines the internal calmness and confidence.
